![]() A little about me… I graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 2006. During that time, I was working at a private Christian school as a camp counselor and substitute teacher. It was then that I decided to pursue education. I returned to USF and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in elementary education in 2008. I am commencing my eleventh year of teaching, having taught first, second, and third grades prior. In August of this year, I will be graduating with a Masters in Reading from the University of South Florida. My philosophy… I believe in creating a learning environment in which students are comfortable expressing their thoughts, feelings, and ideas without fear of judgment. Children learn best when they are interacting and learning from each other. It is important to me that students feel safe and comfortable enough to ask questions and be themselves among their classmates and their teacher. I have a strong belief that all children can learn, as long as there is a strong collaboration between students, parents, and the teacher, as well as strong collaboration among students and their classmates. Expectations for Students and Parents… My goal is to work with students and parents in order to maintain a strong and supportive environment. I also have the goal of teaching and supporting group collaboration, where students are discussing, developing, creating, and expanding on the knowledge they already have and the knowledge they have acquired. By working together as one unit, students will be able to reach their social and academic potential. Ms. Herrera MTSS Reading Intervention Specialist ![]() |
